Development & Training

Requests for clinics and coach education were processed for Central America, the Caribbean, and selected African MNAs.  Development activities were aligned with continental championships to reduce travel burdens and maximize participation.

Bahamas hosted our Optimus Program Coaching session with none other than Martin Manrique in stunning Exuma in June.  He successfully ran 2 separate clinics, Level 1 and 2 with a total of 9 coaches attending.  It was an incredibly productive and positive week and we certainly want to repeat this in the Caribbean area gain this year.

Later on, in the later part of the year, our incredibly talented coach Maarten Treuren once again stepped up and led 2 well attended and successful Optimus Coach Clinics:

• October 1-3, 2025: Optimus Clinic in Pawna India with a strong participation of 13 coaches from 11 clubs in attendance.  Three busy days with great reviews and lots of takeaways for coaches, Maarten and IODA.
• November 12-16, 2015: Optimus Clinic in Abu Dhabi, UAE with 12 coaches from different nations dove in a productive clinic with mixed levels ranging from 1 to 3.  Productive days and a great venue wrapped up our Optimus clinics for the year.

On another note, IODA also held a measurement seminar at the Barceló Mussanah Resort, Oman, on 21–22 of October 2025.  Taking advantage of the Asian Championship being hosted here, our talented technical committee members Olive Parker and Jurgen Cluymans held a dynamic measurement seminar with 17 participants from the region, learning the basics of Optimist measurement.
