2027 Optimist North American Championship Notice of Race Now Available

San Felipe offers a unique blend of desert landscapes, warm waters, and spectacular coastal scenery. Framed by the rugged mountains of Baja California and the turquoise waters of the Sea of Cortez, the venue is renowned for its natural beauty, stunning sunsets, and welcoming maritime culture. Often described as one of the world's great sailing destinations, the area provides an unforgettable setting for international competition and friendship among young sailors.

The local community is eagerly anticipating the arrival of sailors, coaches, and families from across the Americas. Mayor José Luis Dagnino, President of San Felipe, welcomed the opportunity to host the championship, saying:

“San Felipe is delighted to host the 2027 Optimist North American Championship, and we look forward to making sure that all our guests experience the winds, seas and hospitality that have made our region one of the most desirable sailing venues in the world.”

IODA Vice President of the Americas, Sigrid Beckmann, also expressed her enthusiasm for the event:

Registration will open on Monday, October 5.   The first entry deadline is November 11, 2026.
