2026 IODA Optimist African Championship

Dear Members,

IODA would like to inform you that there will be no IODA Optimist African Championship in 2026.

This follows discussions held with the African member nations during the 2026 Optimist World Championship, where it was agreed that organising the event in 2026 would not be appropriate under the current circumstances.

IODA would like to sincerely thank the Royal Yacht Club de M’diq and the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Voile for their commitment, support, and efforts in preparing to host the Championship. Their engagement and continued support of Optimist sailing in Africa are greatly appreciated.

IODA remains committed to the development of Optimist sailing across Africa and looks forward to working with its members on future opportunities.
