IODA Hosts Measurement Seminar in Fraglia Vela Riva del Garda

IODA Class Rules Explained at Two Day Seminar in Italy

The IODA Technical Committee hosted a measurement seminar on October 11 - 12 in Italy at Fraglia Vela Riva del Garda for the IODA Members of Europe interested in learning more about the Optimist Class Rules.

Seventeen participants from 9 countries including AUT, CYP, DEN, GER, HUN, IRL,  ITA, SLO, and SVK enjoyed two intense days of learning using both the method of the practical application and the classroom setting.  One of the principal undertakings of the sessions was to de-mystify and further elaborate on the application of the Optimist Class Rules for deeper understanding of the One-Design Class.

The seminar was conducted by IODA Technical Committee Chair Olive Parker (IRL) with TC Committee Member and Fundamental Measurer Jean-Luc Gauthier (IM, FRA).   Carmen Casco, the IODA Vice-President of Europe, also was present throughout the two days, hosting the participants and encouraging greater connections with the Optimist Class. A huge thank you to our hosts at Fraglia Vela Riva for having us.

If you are interested to know more about future opportunities in IODA Class Measurement, or your organisation is interested in having the IODA Technical Committee conduct a similar measurement seminar in the future, please contact technical.chair@optiworld.org.
