IODA Announces Coach's Clinic in Tanzania

IODA will be hosting a Coach’s Clinic in conjunction with the Tanzania Optimist Dinghy Association(TODA) from June 10 to 14^th at the Dar es Salaam Yacht Club in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

This is the only IODA Coach's Clinic to be held in Africa in 2018, so here is your opportunity to improve your coaching skills with one of most accomplished Optimist Coaches today.  Learn the tools that you need to improve the results of your Optimist sailors with hands-on practical training tips that can help your sailors get to the next level. 

The guest IODA Coach for the clinic is Zdzislaw ‘Zizi’ Staniul, coach of 16 Optimist Medal winners at European/World Championships. He is also a 470 Olympic sailor and 470 Olympic Coach.

Zizi was the IODA Coach at the successful Coach’s Clinic held in Slovakia in March.  The positive feedback from the participants of the Slovakia Clinic stated that they “were delighted and very enthusiastic for the coming season and will use in practice all the information they gathered during the clinic.”

Topics to be covered in the 5-day clinic will be coaching philosophy, safety, body preparation, equipment, technique, communication, on-water coaching, and tips on how to make a great debriefing.

Entry to the Clinic is Free.   For participants, accommodation will be at Maura House for $50USD per person including breakfast. Arrival for the clinic should be on June 9th and departure on June 15^th.
