With the participation of more than 170 sailors, aged 9-15, from a total of 7 countries, the "Optimist Nikos Sarikavazis Cup" starts for the 9th consecutive year. For three days, from Friday 16 to Sunday 18 February, the Nautical Club of Paleo Faliro will host tomorrow's Olympians in Saronic Gulf, through an event that has now become an institution. "We have been consistent for a year in our vision. The aim and destination of the Nautical Club of Paleo Faliro is to be able to highlight the Olympians of the future. This will be done again this year through the "9th Optimist Nikos Sarikavazis Cup" which is now an annual crossroads of the leading groups around the world. And this year Nautical Clubs from Turkey, the United States of America, Bulgaria, Malta have chosen the "Optimist Nikos Sarikavazis Cup" so that their young athletes can test their strength in Saronic Gulf" commented the president of the Nautical Club of Paleo Faliro, Mr. Tasos Vatistas. The "Optimist Cup Nikos Sarikavazis" from 2019 receives the recognition of the international federation of the Optimist class (IODA) as it is included in its annual calendar. The administration of the Nautical Club of Paleo Faliro every year tries to raise the level of the event both on a competitive and organizational level. The steady attendance of young sailors from the leading Greek Clubs and from recognized sailing clubs around the world is not just by chance.

N.O.P.F. honors Yannis Pavlou and Antonios Bougiouris

As every year, this year too, the Nautical Club of Palaio Faliro does not forget its past, present and future. On Sunday, February 18, at the awarding ceremony (5:30 p.m.) of the prizes to the winners, 86-year-old Yiannis Pavlou will be honored for his contribution to the Club by one of the oldest members of the Club. The world sailing champion of the NOPF, Antonios Bougiouris, who at 49 years of age is still distinguished and a role model for young sailors, will also receive an honorary distinction.

The event is embraced for another year by the supporters-sponsors, "Millhouse", "Metropolitan Hospital", "E-Fresh.gr", "VMG", "Display Solutions", "One Design", "Sailing & More", " Rope Align", "NOPFrest", and "Kambos Chios".
