Topic 3 - Navigating Wildlife and Biodiversity

Topic 3 works with three United Nations Sustainability Development Goals: Quality Education; Life Below Water; and Life on Land as they relate to Wildlife and Biodiversity.

In this section, you will be introduced to cetaceans and aquatic plants and find out what sailors can do to protect biodiversity and how to be a responsible sustainable sailor.

It will also provide information on how to navigate plant life while sailing and launching and learn what to do about non-native and invasive species.

The Booklet provides the overall content and information on the topic.  The Trainer’s Guide contains the lesson plans and steps to complete each section, as well as the answers to the questions and activities of the Worksheets.

World Sailing in interested in hearing from you after you have completed Topic 3 and would like you to answer the following 3 questions and send your responses to sustainability@sailing.org.

  1. Which country do you live in?
  2. What is the name of your sailing club?
