Day Three - A Crucial Day
Marina di Carrara, Italy
Today marked a crucial Day Three of the 2024 Optimist European Championship.
The goal was to complete the five qualifying races today to set the stage for the finals on July 4th and 5th, the last two days of the Championship.
Marina di Carrara did not disappoint: the stable wind between 12 and 15 knots on the race course allowed for 10 races today, two for each of the five fleets. Combined with yesterday's three races, this completes the five needed for the final series.
This morning, the light wind seemed to slow down the Championship: at noon, the scheduled starting time, there were not enough knots for the start.
Onshore, the teams were ready and, while waiting for the Delta flag, they entertained themselves with games and music until 14:00.
The Guest Boat, provided by the Club Nautico Marina di Carrara to follow the regattas, reached the race course where the 277 sails off Punta Bianca were on display.
