Team SGP Declared 2022 Asian & Oceanian Team Racing Champions

A total of 16 teams participated in the 2022 Asian & Oceanian Team Racing Championship.  Due to the wind conditions, the IODA PRO decided to take no risk, and went straight to a version of the racing grid that would guarantee that the event could finish in one day and that a champion would be declared.

Teams from IND, SRI, AUS, TPE, HKG, JPN, THA, USA, SGP competed in the event.

After all teams battling for a win in Flight 1, the winners moved on to Flight 2.  The wind was variable between 6 – 10 knots.  Four teams were victorious to make it to the Semi-Finals:  SGP 1 vs IND 1, and THA vs JPN 1.  The Losers of each of these races - which were IND 1 and JPN 1 - proceeded to compete for third place.   JPN 1 was victorious and claimed third. 

The Finals were raced between SGP 1 and THA 1.  Three races were conducted with a best out of three determining the winner.  SGP 1 was victorious, winning races 17 and 18.

The final standings for the 2022 Optimist Asian & Oceanian Team Racing Championship are:

• Silver THA 1
• Bronze:  JPN 1
