The Sentosa Optimist Open Championship, an international event in Singapore, has just started. A turnout of 234 sailors from seven countries and three continents - Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, New Zealand, Thailand, Greece and Singapore will make it an interesting and challenging regatta.
The event is the second and final chance for the Singaporean sailors to become members of the team that will represent their country at the IODA Worlds this year in Brazil. The front runners so far are Ryan Lo, Andrew Tang, Kimberly Lim, and Ng Sue Shen.
After a first race in light winds, Singapore, New Zealand, Thailand and Malaysia share the first ten places on the scoreboard, promising a fierce battle to come.
