USA LISOT undefeated and worthy winners

Big seas and strong winds of 40 knots forced the Race Committee to cancel the final day of racing. 90 sailors from 8 countries had to remain ashore and the prizes had to be awarded to the teams in the order of the ranking after Friday and Saturday's races.

Organised by the Compagnia della Vela e dal Diporto Velico Veneziano, this was the 26th edition of the Trofeo Marco Rizzotti, which has become one of the most important Team Racing events worldwide. This year it was attended by 18 teams, including three from USA and two from Singapore.

After a complete round robin of 150 races in which every team met each of the other teams, USA LISOT (New York) took the title undefeated, with 18 race wins. Behind them, the two teams from Singapore finished 2nd and 3rd, ahead of Slovenia who placed 4th for second time in a row. USA (LYC), last year's winners, finished fifth and the national Italian team 6th.

The International Umpire team agreed that the technical knowledge and skills of the teams were remarkably high, improving year after year.
