USA were crowned winners of the 25th edition of the Trofeo Marco Rizzotti in Venice.

Another successful edition of the Trofeo Marco Rizzotti came to an end last Sunday 15th. The invitational event organised every year by the Compagnia della Vela and the Diporto Velico Veneziano, and sailed on the waters of Cavallino, this year celebrated its 25th anniversary. As usual, participants stayed at the camping Marina de Venezia. There were nine countries represented by 16 teams:

USA - 2 teams Singapore - 2 teams Italy - 6 teams France Netherlands Switzerland Poland Croatia Slovenia

Very little wind on the first day forced the race committee, which had set up two race areas -Yellow and Green-, to abandon the first two races and make the course smaller in order to ensure that the races were within the time limit. The second day was blessed with excellent sailing conditions, giving the sailors and race committee the chance to sail as many races as possible so that only the finals were left for Sunday. On the last day, however, heavy rain and strong winds did not allow for the completion of the final races, and the ranking was decided taking into account the points of races completed by Saturday.

Prizes were awarded as follows:

• To each team in the Gold group, which, in the order of finishing positions were:
  
  Team LYC (USA), Team ITALY, Team LISOT (USA), SLOVENIA, SINGAPORE 2, SINGAPORE 1, VENETO (ITA), EMILIA ROMAGNE (ITA), LAGHY (ITA)
• To the first three teams in the Silver group:
  
  POLAND, LIGURIA (ITA), FRANCE
• To the team that showed the best behaviour and sportsmanship on the water: SINGAPORE 1
• To the team that showed the best behaviour and sportsmanship on shore: LYC
