Recruitment Message From the IODA Executive Committee

Dear Members,

The IODA Excom has decided that with the passing of time and significant challenges which the class is facing in these changing times that it is appropriate to alter the way we are managing the class on a day to day basis.

In this regard we have made the decision to restructure the secretariat.  As a reminder the IODA Secretariat has two full time paid positions – the Secretary General and the Regatta Secretary.

As part of this restructuring, the IODA Excom has decided to  not extend  the Consultancy contract between IODA and Fiona Kidd as of September 2023.

IODA has appointed a recruitment firm to assist in finding a suitable candidate and advertising for such will begin in the coming week.  We do encourage members and stakeholders of the Optimist class to propose candidates who you feel will be appropriate to assist the IODA Excom in running Secretariat of the Class.

On behalf of IODA and the Executive Committee we would like to thank Fiona for all her hard work since taking on the position in January of 2016.  Her passion for the Optimist and youth sailing has been seen by all and her time as Secretary General for the Class has been a boon for the Class. 

In the meantime we look forward to meeting you this week at the 2023 Optimist World Championship and at the Annual General Meeting of IODA.
