MEASUREMENT COURSE

An Optimist fundamental measurement course organised by IODA will be held during the European Championships in Poland next July. The instructors will be Nuno Reis and Jean-Luc Gauthier, both ISAF International Measurers. This is part of the continued education program that the Technical Committee have been running at most recent IODA Continental Championships but this course will be more detailed and intense and will also include hull measurement.

This is an invitation only course and places are very limited. Applications should be made by sending a CV to the IODA Secretariat: info@optiworld.org and should be endorsed by the national class association. The CVs will be evaluated by the Technical Committee and invitations will be extended to suitable candidates. The deadline for returning applications is May the 10th!!

We would expect attendees to have reasonable English language skills and to have some experience of measurement, preferably to National Measurer standard but not necessarily in Optimists.  The course will cover measurement of both sails, foils and hulls.

There will be a small attendance charge (€100) and candidates will be liable to cover their own flight, accommodation, meal costs and other sundry expenses.

Details:

• The course will begin on mid morning 30th June with arrival 29th or early 30th.
• Event measurement begins 30th and ends 3rd July (some training will coincide with event measurement)
• Measurement course ends 5th July
