The first ever India International Regatta came to an end yesterday, Sunday the 8th of November. A promising beginning, the event attracted sailors from three countries apart from India: Kenya, Indonesia and Singapore.

On the three days of races sailors endured varied sailing conditions, from strong winds and rough seas on the first and second days, to light wind, big swell and current on the third.

The podium saw only local sailors with Rufus Patrick winning the event with a 16 point lead over Ganapathy K C in second. Third came Upamanyu Dutta. First from abroad was Singaporean sailor Bernie Chin in 6th place. See the results here.

The organisers have already confirmed the dates for next year and are willing to welcome more sailors. Let's hope for a successful second edition next October from 3 to 10.
