Portorož, March 4, 2024 - The Opti Opening regatta, which is considered to be the overture to the new regatta season of the Sailing Club Pirat Portorož, finished yesterday, on 3 March 2024 with the total of 5 races sailed by 234 sailors. Slovenian competitors, for whom the regatta is also a national qualifier, were joined in Piran Bay by young athletes from Austria, Croatia, Estonia, Germany, Italy, Poland, Serbia, Slovakia and Switzerland.
The organisers were particularly favoured on the first and third days of the regatta when the wind was gusting up to 10 knots. With the best performance in changeable sea conditions the win was claimed by the local Val Grbec (JK Pirat Portorož).

Bojan Gale, The Principal Race Officer: "Changeable conditions were quite challenging not only for sailors, but also for the Race Committee, but we managed to complete 5 races and make a nice start to the new season."

The Pirat Sailing Club Team is not going to rest for long as the Sailing Point Easter Regatta, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, is coming up at the end of March. The regatta, which is considered the largest in this part of Europe, has attracted more than 600 sailors to take part in record time, which is a remarkable success.
