EMERGENCY CLASS RULE CHANGE

The new CR 3.5.5.4, as amended by the AGM in July 2008 and effective since January 2009, restricted the length of the outhaul rope to 1m. The IODA Technical Committee have verified that for some standard manufactured booms, a rope of this length results in a very small amount of rope available for a sailor to trim the outhaul.

MAJOR REGATTAS IN FEBRUARY SO FAR....!

The first half of the month saw more than 700 sailors from 49 countries attend five international regattas organised in different parts of the world: Qatar, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Spain and USA were hosts to sailors from 5 continents.

NEW COURSE FOR TEAM RACING AND OTHERS...

In response to the demand of the IODA members in the recent championships, the Team Racing events of the class have been modified in an attempt to bring them closer to other major team racing events. These changes will in provide our sailors with experience that will be directly applicable in their adult sailing life.

We welcome new members Iran and Senegal, increasing our membership to 106 countries (105). It was a pleasure to see new 2007 members Macedonia FYR and Montenegro attending the IODA Worlds in Turkey this year.
