The Sentosa Open Championship ended on Saturday but teams from Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Thailand and Singapore, stayed on to take part in the first edition of the Optimist Team Racing Championship.

Over 80 junior sailors from throughout the Caribbean and World - plus coaches, families and friends - arrived on St. Thomas this week for the 2009 Sea Star Clinic, Sea Star Team Racing Championships and the Scotiabank International Optimist Regatta.
SENTOSA OPTIMIST CHAMPIONSHIP
The Sentosa Optimist Open Championship, an international event in Singapore, has just started. A turnout of 234 sailors from seven countries and three continents - Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, New Zealand, Thailand, Greece and Singapore will make it an interesting and challenging regatta.
RIZZOTTI SAILS TEAM RACING EVENT
Seventeen teams from five continents (entry list) gathered in Venice for the 23rd edition of the Trofeo Marco Rizzotti, a team racing event organised each year by the Compagnia della Vela and of the Diporto Velico Veneziano. The sailors enjoyed excellent weather conditions: sunny skies, an 8 to 12 knot breeze and a long gentle Adriatic swell.
IODA South American Championship
The South American Championships have just ended, the winner decided on the final race. Arthur Fortune, from Guadeloupe – France was the leader going into the last race but he had to return home earlier than expected due to a last-minute change in his flight schedule and was not able to sail race 12.

EMERGENCY CLASS RULE CHANGE
The new CR 3.5.5.4, as amended by the AGM in July 2008 and effective since January 2009, restricted the length of the outhaul rope to 1m. The IODA Technical Committee have verified that for some standard manufactured booms, a rope of this length results in a very small amount of rope available for a sailor to trim the outhaul.
