IODA Online Digital Measurement Certification

IODA is modernizing the Optimist Class measurement certification process with a sustainable, user-friendly digital system launching by mid-2025

IODA is delighted to announce that the measurement certification process of the Optimist Class is being modernized to be more environmentally sustainable and user friendly.  We intend to provide online digital measurement certification by mid-2025 for hulls, sails and equipment, accessible through an APP using an RFID associated with each piece.

IODA believes that this new process will help the global Optimist sailors by eliminating the need for them to worry about travelling to events with their paper sail or hull certificates.  Additionally, the National Optimist Member Associations will no longer need to manage paper registration documents, eliminating also shipping costs and delivery issues.

In order to move forward with the development of the digital certification program and to meet the 2025 deadline, we need to create a database of all active national measurers.  Once the new digital system goes live, national measurers will only be able to access a measurement form using the provided login credentials.  Therefore, we are requesting all Members to provide us with the required criteria about the active Optimist measurers in their country.

Please complete and submit the attached questionnaire as soon as possible, so that we may reach out to introduce national measurers to the system and complete the training before the digital certification “goes live".

We will be in touch with you in the coming weeks to explain in more detail how this system will benefit you and the Optimist sailors in your country.

We look forward to working with you, and many thanks for your support in this very exciting project.
