Important Notice –Optimist Class Rules 2026

Changes of the IODA Class Rules are now approved by World Sailing and published on the IODA website.

In addition to sailors, this notice is of particular relevance to:

• Builders

• Sailmakers

• Foils and spars manufacturers

• Class measurers

• National Class Associations

The 2026 Class Rules include important changes related to the introduction of the new Digital Certification System, affecting equipment certification, measurement procedures and administrative processes.

All stakeholders involved in the manufacture, certification, measurement and administration of Optimist equipment are strongly advised to review the 2026 Class Rules in detail.

IODA remains fully available to support all parties during this transition and can be contacted at info@optiworld.org for any questions, guidance or clarification.

We are delighted to say we are the first dinghy class in the world to adopt a fully digital certificate system. Our Sail Digital System supports a more efficient, transparent and environmentally responsible process, significantly reducing paper use and administrative burden, ecofriendly and accessible all over the world.

IODA looks forward to working together with the entire Optimist community to make this transition a positive and successful one for everyone
