Governance Updates

Our AGM took place in Slovenia during the World Championship in Portorož.   With many proposals and updates from the NCAs present, the meeting also included elections.

• We welcomed Ricardo Navarro as President for the next term and thanked Kevin Whitcraft for his eight years of leadership and dedication to the Optimist Class.
• Carmen Casco was re-elected for a two-year term as Vice President of Europe

• Olive Parker and Alexandra Williman were both re-elected for two-year terms in the Technical Committee.
• Miguel Amaral was re-elected for a two-year term in the Regatta Committee and was joined by newly elected member Masa Tanaka.

Event documentation, communication tools, and registration procedures continued to be updated digitally for 2025–26.

Discussions within the Executive remained focused on supporting emerging nations, strengthening collaboration with hosts, and ensuring consistent class standards across all regions
