Moroccan Coaches Trained in Tangier Under IODA’s Optimus Program
Tangier, Morocco, 25 April 2025 — The Optimist Coach Development Program continues its mission to raise global coaching standards with a successful clinic held in Tangier, Morocco. Organized in collaboration with the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Voile, the clinic took place at the Royal Yacht Club of Tangier — the main venue for the upcoming 2026 Optimist World Championship.
Twenty-one coaches participated in the four-day clinic led by expert coach Maarten Treuren. The program offered an intensive curriculum covering essential topics such as safety protocols, technical coaching techniques, athlete development, and regatta preparation.
The Fédération Royale Marocaine de Voile expressed its gratitude to the IODA Team for the opportunity and praised the high quality of instruction provided:
“The entire group was highly satisfied with the quality of instruction provided by Coach Maarten Treuren. We especially want to thank him for his professionalism, dedication, and the positive and inspiring environment he created. This clinic marks an important step in our commitment to developing sailing skills in Morocco.”
This initiative is part of the Optimius Coach Development Program’s ongoing effort to establish a globally recognized and highly skilled coaching community in the sport of sailing.
