Tanzania Withdraws as Host of 2021 Optimist African Championship

IODA has been informed by the Organizing Committee of the 2021 Optimist African Championship that they have made the decision to withdraw as the host of the championship next year.

We would like to thank our Member, the Tanzania Optimist Dinghy Association, and the many members of the Organizing Committee for all their hard work and support in the planning of the 2021 Optimist African Championship. We respect their decision. 

The Tanzania Optimist Dinghy Association has expressed their interest in hosting the 2022 Optimist African Championship.  We look forward to receiving their bid to host the championship and will proceed with formalizing the bid approval process with the Executive Committee.

As a result of the withdrawal of the host next year, as per Continental Championship Condition 8.4, the IODA Executive Committee will now consider bids from any interested members in Africa in order to appoint an alternate host of the 2021 Optimist African Championship.  Bid forms to host an IODA Championship can be found here.
