August 18th – 2022 Bid Submission Deadline

The deadline to submit Bids to host a 2022 IODA Championships is Tuesday, August 18th .

Hosting an IODA Championship can inject new energy into your Optimist Sailing Program in your country. A host country gets additional quota places for a Continental Championship. Everyone benefits – sailors, parents, coaches and volunteers.

Bids will be presented to the Members for voting at the 2020 IODA AGM taking place during the Optimist European Championship in Portoroz, Slovenia, October 18-25.  The actual date is to be confirmed.

Please use the revised “Bid Form to Host IODA Championships” and include all the required information in the form.  Remember it needs to be signed by the IODA Member, the Club or other members of the Organizing Authority, and the World Sailing MNA. The Bid Form can be found here.

There are two important documents that should be reviewed prior to submitting an IODA Championship Bid. The IODA Handbook contains all the World & Continental Championship Conditions that govern each IODA Championship.  The 2020 Handbook can be downloaded here.  

And the IODA Regatta Manual 2017, provides all of the operational details, both on and off the water and the specific requirements to host an IODA Championship.  It can be downloaded here.
