Yesterday, 31 March 2024, the 30th Sailing Point Easter Regatta concluded in Portorož. The anniversary edition was marked by a record participation of more than 600 Optimist sailors from 20 countries.

After three days of unstable wind conditions, the 30th Sailing Point Easter Regatta concluded in style yesterday. On the last day, the fleet was surprised by a steady southerly of around 20 knots - wind gusts reached 29 knots - and a high swell. The best optimists took advantage of this.

On land, it was also exciting, as the Pirat Sailing Club provided a varied accompanying programme with games, a concert and a rich raffle. The Easter atmosphere was also conjured up by chocolate eggs hiding whistles. Just one, a golden whistle, brought the lucky German sailor a brand new optimist Exoboat.

This year's edition of the regatta was also part of the Adriatic Golden Series powered by Sailing Point, which brings together the regattas of three clubs - JK Pirat, Sirena Maritime Club of Trieste and Società Velica di Barcola e Grignano. At the last regatta of the year, the best club of the series will be announced and will receive a cash prize.

The conditions were challenging, but with our experience in organising regattas, we did an excellent job in delivering this outstanding event. The proof of this is the satisfied optimists, coaches and other supporters who return to Portorož. The regatta was organised by about 60 club members who did an excellent job," said Mitja Margon, President of Pirat Sailing Club.

The best among the Slovenian Optimists were Lina Sorta (14th place) and Filip Valjavec (18th place) from the local JK Pirat.
