Sixty five sailors from nine countries participated in this traditional pre-Christmas regatta. Notable this year was the presence of a large Russian team.

Fourteen countries in Miami

201 sailors, over a quarter of them from outside the USA, participated in the Orange Bowl Regatta at Coral Reef Y.C. in Miami.

The winner was Antoine Screve of the home club who edged ahead of Jonathan Martinetti of Ecuador and Stefano Peschiera of Peru in the final race. Niki Barnes (US Virgin Islands) was first girl in sixth place over-all.

Hong Kong shine at the Pacific Rim Open

While Harald Faste of Norway easily retained his title at the Pacific Rim Open in Melbourne, Australia Hong Kong placed four sailors in the top ten with Bernard Kay and Wing Ho Kwan taking the minor medals. Sam Gilmour (yes!) was the best placed Australian in 4th place.

Eighty in San Remo

Seven countries were represented in San Remo where, unusually, only four races were possible to to high winds.
Brothers from the well-known Mas family from El Masnou S.C., Spain won both the main "Juniores" division and the Under-12 "Cadetti" division.

Two great regattas for S. Claus

The feast of St. Nicholas was celebrated in great style with two regattas in southern Europe. A total of 621 sailors from 21 countries participated, with the Trofeo Ciutat de Palma in Mallorca (322 sailors from 14 countries) being just the larger by comparison with the 299 sailors from 12 countries at the Sv. Nikola regatta in Pula, Croatia.

Semana Mar del Plata

The Atlantic seas of Mar del Plata are providing some real thrills for the 200+ sailors from nine participating countries. And don't miss some fabulous photos from Matías Capizzano.

Schoelcher

65 sailors from Barbados, Cuba, St. Lucia and Trinidad joined French sailors from Europe, Guadeloupe and Martinique for the oldest Optimist regatta in the Caribbean.

While sailors from metropolitan France led the minimes category Wesley Scott of Trinidad was not far behind and Raul Diaz of Cuba placed a creditable 5th. Jean-Felix Forbin of Guadeloupe led the younger benjamins category.

Palamós, Spain.
287 participants from 15 countries competed in this year's event. This year Russia was represented for the first time by twelve members of their National Team.
