38 sailors, aged between 8 and 14, were selected from the five groups in San Pedro, Belize City and Corozal. The 19 best sailors from two qualifying pools took part in a 5-race final in increasing winds and choppy weather but there were plenty of rescue boats to help the less experienced. Ashore there was a great party and prizes for all participants.
The winner was 11-year old Alexander Rhaburn from the San Pedro fleet with three first places, followed by David Puc from the same club and Joshua Mckenzie of the Sea Scouts.

An IODA-sponsored instructors course is planned for the new year but obviously the young sailors just couldn’t wait.
