European TR Championship: ELIGIBILITY

At the AGM in Brazil this year, the representatives voted to accept a proposal from the IODA Executive to change the paragraph regarding Eligibility in the Notice of Race for IODA European Team Racing Championship.

The new paragraph, which will be effective for the European Team Racing Championship 2010, reads:

 

"Each team shall be made up of four or five sailors (maximum 3 of the same gender) and shall be accompanied by a Coach. The sailors who have sailed or will sail in the same year’s IODA World Sailing Championship are not allowed to participate in the IODA European Team Racing Championship."

 

So, beginning 2010, team members for this event do not need to be the same sailors that have participated in that year's European Fleet Racing Championship.

The reason for the proposal was to allow sailors other than the ones who participate at the fleet racing, to race in the TR Championship. This change will encourage participation and permit team selection earlier in the season.
