"Four beautiful capital cities are connected by the mighty Danube river, sharing its shores, its wind and its water. Catch the winds in the sails of the youngest sailors, to jointly promote ecological energy, sporting spirit and the energy of the youth..."

The four cities are Vienna (Austria), Bratislava (Slovak Republic), Budapest (Hungary) and Belgrade (Serbia) and the above words summarise the spirit of the Sailing the Danube Together Regatta organisers.

This first edition, hosted by the Nautical Club of Palilula, in Belgrade, held the 2nd and 3rd of June, gathered sailors from Austria, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Serbia.

The wind didn't allow for much sailing and the Race Committee managed to start just one race, but this was no excuse to be bored. The organisers ran games and two lotteries, and every competitor won a prize: from boxes of sweets to T-shirts to the biggest prize: a sail donated by Spanish sailmaker Aerolite Sails, won by Lena Puletic from Belgrade.

The best competitor overall, as well as the best under 12, was Silvester Muller Hartburg from Vienna, Austria. The best girl was Michaela Kecskesova from Slovakia.

It is the goal of the organisers to atttract more and more sailors each year so look out for more details in our calendar for 2013.
