NOTICE TO MEMBERS - CHANGE OF DATES FOR 2018 AFRICANS

The Executive Committee has approved a request from the organizing committee of the 2018 Optimist African Championship, hosted by the Clube Maritimo de Desportos, Maputo Bay to move the dates of the championships from September 16 - 23 to November 25 - December 2.

We acknowledge that this is the second time that the dates of the championship have been changed in the past few months and that this is a highly unusual decision of the IODA Executive.  The first change was due to the low tidal conditions that were expected for the original dates submitted in the  Bid Document.  

This change is the result of the hotels having to release the rooms that were reserved for the teams at the championship on May 1^st.    The financial support from the Government was also tied to the May 1^st deadline.

The NOR will be posted in the near future on the championship microsite  www.2018africans.optiworld.org.

With these new dates, the Organizers are confident that they can deliver a successful 2018 Optimist African Championship. They have the required time to ensure that all of the planning and financial support is in place.
