On November 6 and 7 the Club Nàutic el Masnou held the 22nd edition of the Gran Premi Principat d’Andorra GrandValira, organised every year by the Federació Andorrana de Vela (Sailing Federation from Andorra). The "Gran Premi" is a multiclass event that this year gathered sailors in Optimist, Laser, Europe, 420 and 29er classes.

In the Optimist class there were 156 sailors from Spain and Andorra.

Sailing conditions were perfect on the first day of races: sunny skies, warm temperature and a breeze that started blowing at 5 knots and built up as the day progressed, reaching 12 knots that blew steadily during the last races of the day. In total four races were organised for the advanced sailors (groups 1 and 2) and 3 for the beginners (group 3).

Back on shore the sailors enjoyed a snack, a break dance show and a talk by Eli Llargués, Europe Class World champion 2010, who briefed the sailors about her experiencies.

Rain and little or no wind had been forecasted for the second day of races but they did not materialise and the organisers managed to run one race for all the classes. A present draw after the prize-giving ceremony put a final touch to an exciting racing weekend.
