2019 African Championship Officially Opens

The 2019 Optimist African Championship has officially opened with 43 sailors from 9 nations registered to take part in the championship.

The event is organized by the Seychelles Yachting Association along with the Seychelles Yacht Club (SYC) and the National Sports Council, taking place in Victoria Mahe, Seychelles, August 25 to September 1st.

Sailors from Angola, Reunion Island (FRA), Kenya, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania and Tunisia have travelled to Seychelles to compete against one another for the 2019 Optimist African Championship Title.  

Measurement is now complete, sails are checked,  and everyone is ready to start racing, 

Fleet racing starts tomorrow for two days followed by a day for the 2019 Optimist African Team Racing Championship. Fleet racing continues for the final two days of the championship.
