Notice #1 to Members - SAMS2020

IODA regards the safety, security and good health of our competitors, support persons and officials as our highest priority.

In light of the Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) outbreak in various locations around the globe, we are communicating to ensure you are aware that IODA is keeping abreast of developments and will keep our members and participants in IODA regattas updated on the situation and IODA considerations.

As of Feb 28^th, the 2020 South American Championship is proceeding as planned.  

IODA is in contact with the Organizers and is assured that all precautions are being anticipated.    The Organizers are in contact with Public Health officials from Argentina.

During the event the organizers will be providing preventative measures such as sanitizing hand stations and disinfectant wipes across the venue as well as at the accommodation and meal locations.  They will also be providing messaging and signage as part of an awareness program. 

IODA recommends that each team should check their own country travel advisories before departing and be fully aware of World Health Organization (WHO) preventative measures.  They should also monitor the WHO website for any Situation Report and Updates https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/situation-reports.

IODA also recommends that each member of a Team has up to date travel health insurance as a precautionary measure.

IODA will be monitoring the situation on a regular basis and providing updates.
