IODA Coach's Clinic Wraps up in Colombia

The IODA Coach’s Clinic held at Club Nautico del Pacífico, on Lago Calima, Calle del Cauca, Colombia, wrapped up on Sunday, July 8th.

Hernan Vila and Julian Demarres, both from Argentina were the two coaches that ran the clinic.  This was Hernan’s second time coaching at an IODA Clinic in recent months. The last was in December 2017 in Montevidio, URU.

The Clinic was attended by 12 coaches and 13 sailors from Curazao, Ecuador, Peru and Colombia.

The attendees had sessions both in a class room environment as well as on the water.  They learned how to improve tacking, safety signals and exercises to warm up sailors before the race, as well as evaluate wind and weather conditions.   They also learned the general rules, tactics, teamwork for competing in Team Racing.

All those who attended had a great time and a lot of fun.  Coaches learned new techniques in fleet and team racing and the sailors got the benefit of all these new learnings.

Many thanks to Hernan and Julian for sharing their knowledge with everyone and for coming to Columbia to run the clinic.   Also, many thanks to the Club Nautico del Pacifico for providing your facilities and hosting the clinic.

An finally, many thanks to Carlos Eduardo Calas and Martha Juliana Acevedo Danner for all their time and effort in organizing such a successful clinic on behalf of IODA.
