Cor van Aanholt(AHO) Knighted in Recognition for his Contribution to Sailing

On April 26th, the day before Kings day, Olympian Cor van Aanholt, founder and former president of AHOoptimist was knighted by her excellency the Governor of Curaçao, Ms. George-Wout, on behalf of his majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, as a “Knight in de Order of Oranje Nassau”. 

Cor was knighted in recognition of all his efforts and achievements within sport in general and the sport of sailing specifically.

Cor competed both nationally and internationally on the highest levels, often being victorious. He has been an International Judge for decades. Cor has initiated and sponsored several projects and organizations and has been on the board of numerous sport organizations from club level to the World Olympians body. He has also successfully coached and managed sailors, ranging from Optimist Class to Olympic sailors. Cor was the president of the organizing committee of the Optinam 2008 in Curaçao, Dutch Caribbean and is the father of four former accomplished Optisailors of which daughter Odile won the Optinam 2012.
