Following the retirement of Mimi Santos, Juhani Soini from Finland has been voted by the AGM to succeed her as the new IODA Vice President for Europe.

Juhani, from Turku, has three children, two of whom are currently sailing Optimist. He has a PH.D in Medical physics and engineering and is Dean of Faculty of Life Sciences and Business in Turku. He has been sailing keelboats for 44 years on the Baltic Sea and is still actively racing.

We welcome Juhani to the Executive Committee and look forward to working with him to continue promoting and developing the class in the next few years.
