VACANCY FOR YOUTH PROGRAM COORDINATOR

HSS, Helsinki, Finland, seeks Youth Program Coordinator

Helsingfors Segelsällskap, founded 1893, is Finlands fourth biggest yacht club and the leading Optimist sailing club with almost 100 sailors training regularly through the season. Our activities are organized into a Sailing School with three levels and parallel training groups and three racing teams (National, Nordic and International level). The club has an international level head coach leading our team of coaches. We have invested in high quality coaching equipment with 8 RIBs and four big trailers. Our sailors are leading the Finnish ranking series and we were the top club in the Finnish Nationals.

HSS organizes the annual Helsinki Down Town Clinic and Race in the second week of June, which is the biggest international Optimist event in the Northern Baltic area. The club has good contacts with other top Optimist programs around the World.

The first sailors of our Optimist program are growing out of the class and HSS will start a 4 - 6 boat strong 29er Team in the season of 2012.

Our program on the water runs from beginning of May till November in Finland and continues with the HSS Winter Tour in Spain and Italy during the winter months plus regular physical and theory training in Helsinki.

The running of the Youth Program is organized by the HSS Youth Committee with a number of active working groups taking care of various tasks.

In order to further develop and coordinate the Youth Program, HSS will hire a Youth Program Coordinator, whose main task is to take responsibility of running the Youth Program and facilitate the work of the working groups. The job requires experience of dinghy racing and coaching, running a youth program and also doing hands on boat maintenance. You have to be organized and self motivated and share our passion for sailing.

You will work under the Head Junior Officer who is chairman of the Youth Committee and member of HSS Board.

Send your application by the end of October 2011 with your sailing and professional CV together with your requirements for compensation to Vivi Fleming-Lehtinen, the HJO of HSS at vivi.fleming@gmail.com. If you want to discuss the job, call Vivi +358-400-729928 .
