PALAMÓS OPTIMIST TROPHY

Joan CARDONA from Spain is the absolute winner of the Palamós Optimist Trophy

The sailor from Menorca wins in a 350 boat fleet, and Spain win the Nations Cup.

Joan CARDONA– CM Mahó is the absolute winner of the XXIII Vila de Palamós Optimist Trophy, beating 350 sailors from 20 countries. This great success is achieved by him thanks to his ability to adapt his sailing techniques to the tricky conditions in which the sailors raced during the three days, the sailors raced with a wide range of wind intensity from 6 to 16 knots, and also had to deal with a strong current, that sometimes was in favor of the wind direction, but sometimes, against the wind direction during the day, due to the shifting conditions.

Second was Scipio Houtman from Holland and third was Maxim PEDRON from France, Odile Van AANHOLT from The Netehrland Antilles was the winner of the women fleet.

Spain were the winner of the Nations Cup, with the scores of Joan CARDONA, Marc ANTICH, Álex BRU and Albert TORRES. The scores are the result of the top 4 sailors representing one Nation without discards.

Extra spots for the Trofeu Vila Palamos (KABB)

The Trofeu Vila Palamos (KABB), held in the city of Palamós in February every year, is restricted to a maximum number of competitors, and there have been several sailors from different parts of the world who in the past years missed the opportunity to enter because all the places had been taken.

For 2011 the organisers have decided to reserve some spots for AECIO, who will allocate them at their discretion. We invite our fellow members to contact us in case they want to apply for these extra places. We would apprecitate it if you wrote to us with ample time so that fair arrangements can be made.

La regata Palamós, que se organiza en febrero cada año, es cerrada a un determinado número de participantes y cada año son muchos los regatistas que se quedan sin poder asistir al estar completo el cupo.

Para 2011 habrá plazas a libre disposición para AECIO, por lo que invitamos a las asociaciones nacionales miembros de IODA que necesiten o deseen plazas para este evento, a que nos contacten a la brevedad para organizar la asignación de plazas.
