Three races were sailed yesterday in perfect sailing conditions. The wind blowed at 10 knots in the first race and increased up to nearly 15 in the last race. The swell was important, with some waves reaching 2 metres heigh.

In just 10 weeks IODA received entries from 30 countries spanning 4 continents, demonstrating how truly global the Optimist class has become and their keen interest in the Volvo race. Many of the sailors in the current Volvo teams began racing in the Optimist class so it is particularly appropriate for IODA and Volvo to come together in running this competition. More...
The optimist is, quite simply, the boat in which the young people of the world learn to sail.
The word "Optimist" and the symbol above are Registered Trademarks of the IODA in respect of boats, sails and sporting events.
